Objective
Revolutionize business management and order fulfillment: As an e-commerce platform, Dingdong aims to be a powerful aggregator for small to medium enterprises, empowering them to reach wider audiences and seamlessly manage their operations.
End Users
Dingdong's strength lies in its commitment to bridge gaps in order fulfillment. Customers will be able to place orders with merchants through an online marketplace. Logistics will be handled by a dedicated fleet of professional riders using the Dingdong Rider app.
Clearing things up
I engaged the client to get deeper insights into the platform, and goal they're trying to achieve both for the users and their business. I also worked closely with the development team to come up and brainstorm solutions to address our client's primary concerns.
Merchant web app
The Merchant portal plays a pivotal role in our merchant operations within the Dingdong marketplace. Its primary aim is to provide merchants with essential tools to streamline their business operations while ensuring a user-friendly experience.
Admin Portal
Here's where we get to set all things to work together. We spent a lot of time with the client to discuss and collaborate how we can better equip them to drive success to their operations.
Marketplace
The Dingdong Marketplace offers a versatile multi-platform experience, accessible seamlessly through both mobile and web platforms. This dual accessibility ensures users can interact with Dingdong's services on their preferred devices.
Figma Comments
Commenting on Figma has been the go-to approach for a direct feedback from our clients, from early concepts to high-fidelity prototypes, the Dingdong team were diligent to polish the platform's design with me
Focus Group
The Dingdong team and I orchestrated a focus group involving their target market to gather initial feedback on the complete user journey within the consumer app.
Strategic pivot
Over the past year working with the Dingdong team, I learned a lot about collaborating with clients to understand their goals and create practical solutions. While I can't provide specific data on user engagement or revenue growth due to my employer's connection with Dingdong ending for undisclosed reasons, the project laid the groundwork for another initiative by the CEO, Multistore. I also noticed that Dingdong has shifted from a marketplace to a delivery service, a strategic move that may help them adapt to the evolving economic landscape.
Accept feedback objectively
Desigers can be proud of their work, sometimes too proud that they develop a bias. I'm no different. I learned to let my guard down and stop defending my output in the face of genuine and reliable user feedback.
Present early concepts
Some features were trickier than others. I was hesitant to show clients early versions of designs - but good thing I did. The responses to these discussions generated by doing this gave me clearer insight into the many challenges we encountered and helped me make designs that hit the mark.
