Introduction

Client work

This is a online store made with Shopify Hydrogen for someone who is starting a business as a carpet dropshipper in Canada.

Requirements

The requirements were pretty straight forward, it's basically an e-commerce site. I had to design everything from the ground up, the brand and the site. My professional career has given me enough background to work on this project.

Design

Brand Name

First thing I worked on was pitching a brand name for the business. I pitched three options: EIVY'S (which is the name of the client), Carpet Ivy (derivative of the client's name), and New World Carpets (a playful name inspired by a Disney movie).

I made a logo and a marketing banner for each option

After settling with a brand name, I worked with my client to finalize the logo for the business.

Concept

My client settled with "New World Carpets" which had me iterate on several versions to cater feedback.

My client liked the orange and red scheme so I worked it into the final set of options

Development

Shopify Hydrogen

With a background in React, I wanted to find a way to build the site with relatively less RND effort. As chance would have it, Shopify has recently announced their React headless framework to build online stores, it just made sense touse this for the project.
